Hypericum oil, also known as St. John's wort oil, is obtained by macerating the dried floral parts of the Hypericum perforatum plant in sunflower oil. St. John's wort is common in low- and medium-altitude terrain. It is found throughout Europe, as far east as North Europe, and has acclimatized in parts of the world such as China, Australia, North Africa, and the Americas. 

It is an herb with yellow flowers and small perforations in the leaves. By crushing its leaves, it leaves an orange spot on the skin. In Australia and the United States, it is considered an invasive weed and is combated with biological controls. This oil has several beneficial properties:
